I'm an American living in Turkey and trying to bring a little bit of foliage into my apartment in an overly crowded district of Istanbul. I have a penchant for the obscure, so no ordinary plants peddled in the street will do. My blog is inspired by my love of Indonesian language, plants and jamu (traditional medicine). In Indonesian, a person proficient in gardening is said to have tangan dingin, "cold hands." I wouldn't say I'm an expert gardener just yet, as I still have much to learn, but my hands are literally cold all the time. I dedicate this work to my dear friend Ade and her family, who have opened my eyes to the world that is Indonesia and its amazing flora.
